Bent Tree Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of inclement weather, Bent Tree will follow the lead of the Addison Campus of Trinity Christian Academy. If they are closed in the morning or open late, Bent Tree will open 2 hours late, at 9:00 a.m. In the event of needing to close the center in the middle of the day, parents will be called by the center director. This will only happen if there is an immediate threat to the safety of our families and their ability to transport their children due to the weather.
Bent Tree Goes Doggy for Week of the Young Child
I wanted to let you know a little bit about something new we tried this year for WOTYC. Today is community day. Normally, the children dress as what they would like to be when they grow up. We sometimes have community helpers come out and talk to the children. As we have a community helper week in October, I thought we would have another type of “Helper” come out.
The rescue ladies from Operation Kindness Animal Shelter came out and brought two foster dogs. They read a story to the children about how to approach animals they do not know and which one to avoid. The picture book was great and they got to practice what they read on the actual dogs that were here. The children all brought in bags of food for the shelter as well. I am so happy that this worked as well as it did. We will for sure do this next year too!
Happy Birthday Bent Tree – March 5th 2011
Bent Tree Child Development Center has just celebrated its 20th birthday! On Saturday, March 5th, all the faculty at Bent Tree got together and had a party! We invited old friends, current friends, and even friends we haven’t met from our CRM to celebrate. A local private school came and set up an animal petting zoo with snakes, mice, and even a chinchilla. There was face painting, balloon animals, birthday cake, party games, a craft room, and we all took turns “Chalking the walk”. Even Mr. John, our physical fitness instructor, was here tumbling and hula hooping with our friends! Faculty members wore tiaras and feather boas to dress for the occasion. It was a great Saturday afternoon and fun was had by all.

North Texas Food Bank Donation
Each year, Bent Tree tries to make a difference in our community at large. Every Thanksgiving, we donate food to the North Texas Food Bank and we try to top the weight of the previous year. So many children in the Dallas area go to bed hungry and no child should be without a good meal to start off the holidays. This year, we donated over 1100 pounds of food!
We prepare for the cold weather (as cold as it ever can get in Texas!) with a Christmas tree that we have our families decorate in hats, mittens and blankets for Metrocrest Services.

Spread the Word
So many of our families come to us through referrals. If Bent Tree sounds like the right preschool or private kindergarten for a family you know, we'd love to be introduced via e-mail, facebook or even a tweet!
