Spanish
Spanish lessons will be provided for classes, Level II (second semester), Level III, Pre-K, and Kindergarten for the full academic year. The goal of our school Spanish Program is to provide a basic exposure of the Spanish language and traditions in an early childhood setting through fun activities and music. The classroom teacher in their homeroom will implement weekly lessons, and the frequency will be once weekly on Mondays for 10-15 minute time periods. Transition to the Spanish lesson requires teachers to wear the Sombrero hat and shake the Maraca that is provided by the school. Each teacher will be provided a complete manual of Spanish lessons to follow throughout the academic year, and will list the lesson on their weekly lesson plan under Cognitive Language Development (bottom part of lesson plan) posted on the parent bulletin board.
Lesson plans will include Spanish weekly under the "language" section... Write Spanish Colors, for example.
Remember that our Spanish lessons are a basic exposure of the Spanish language and our Singing/Talking will be mixed with the Spanish language and the English.
Spanish lesson is not in place of the daily group circle time. Spanish lesson will be conduced at its own special time as each teacher determines best for the daily class schedule.
All projects/games/songs will not meet the wide age range of 21/2 year olds through 6 year olds. Teachers will add and delete activities and projects that are appropriate for their class.
We have additional resources that are available in the Library in a special Spanish section. Check out is a one week time period.
Focus words on sentence strips are laminated and placed with lessons.
